Privacy notice.

Anonymous calculator submissions. Every time someone runs a simulation we log the calculator inputs (city key, household type, household income, target home price, current rent, down payment percentage, expected stay length, mortgage rate, filing status, scenario, and the resulting verdict + break-even year). We do not log your email, name, IP address, or any cookie that ties this back to you as an individual. The user agent string is hashed (truncated SHA-256) only for deduplication of consecutive submissions from the same browser; the original UA is discarded. The point is product analysis ("which cities and incomes are most active?", "what fraction of users hit 'too close to call'?"), not individual identification.

Email subscribers. When you opt in to email — through the results-page modal, a city page, or the blog — we store your email address, the source page, and (optionally) the city you were viewing. You can unsubscribe with one click from any email we send.

Saved plans (signed-in users only). If you sign in with a magic link, we store your email plus any plans you save. Plan content includes calculator inputs and the resulting verdict summary; it does not include any other PII.

Server logs. Vercel maintains brief edge-server logs (IP, user-agent, URL) for security and abuse monitoring. These are retained for under 30 days and are not joined to any of the above.

• We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or SSN.
• We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your email address with third parties for marketing.
• We do not place advertising cookies that build cross-site profiles. Our analytics tool (Plausible) is GDPR-compliant by design and does not require a cookie banner.
• We do not require you to create an account to use the calculator. The full simulation runs without any sign-in.

• Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly aggregate page analytics. No individual tracking, no cookies.
• Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps and session replay (sample of sessions only, with PII automatically masked).
• Sentry — error tracking. Stack traces and request URLs are sent on errors. PII is filtered.
• Resend — transactional and newsletter email delivery.
• Supabase — Postgres database and magic-link authentication infrastructure.
• Google AdSense / Mediavine — display advertising on selected pages (homepage and city pages). These networks set their own cookies and may use fingerprinting techniques. Detail under "Advertising" below.
• LendingTree, Credible, Rocket Mortgage — affiliate links to mortgage rate-shopping platforms. We earn a commission if you click through and eventually obtain a loan. Detail under "Advertising" below.

Some pages display ads from Google AdSense and (eventually) Mediavine. These ad networks may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to deliver relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's Ad Settings or via the Network Advertising Initiative.

Affiliate disclosure:when you click a "Get rates from LendingTree / Credible / Rocket" button on the calculator results page or a city page, we earn a commission if you obtain a quote or a loan. The commission does not change the rate you're offered — it's paid by the lender out of marketing budget. We disclose the affiliate relationship next to every such link.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:

• Access whatever personal data we hold about you (email-based at minimum).
• Request correction or deletion of that data.
• Opt out of any processing we do for marketing purposes (which is essentially limited to our own newsletter — you can unsubscribe with one click).
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email editor@tenure.house with the subject "Data request." We'll respond within 30 days.

Tenure is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email editor@tenure.house and we'll delete it.

We update the date stamp at the top of this page whenever we change the substance of this notice. Material changes are also announced via the next newsletter to all subscribers.
